The Maine Afterschool Network STEM Peer Learning Community is aimed to help afterschool providers navigate the overwhelming volume of STEM resources available, placing emphasis on Maine specific resources. Participants will have the opportunity to examine what is means to bring STEM learning into the afterschool space, and how that can lead to further learning and even career opportunities for youth in Maine, especially girls. As part of the Million Girl Moonshot national initiative, we aim to deliver innovative, inclusive content and professional development focused on developing an engineering mindset and creating career pathways.
The PLC runs for 8 weeks and begins in January.

ME Bioscience Day is a statewide event that aims to get middle school students excited about science. The event focuses on educating Maine’s youth about the different career paths and opportunities that are available in the life sciences industry in Maine. Professionals in these fields volunteer to visit local middle school classrooms to talk with students about their career in science, their daily tasks, and the opportunities that are available in such careers. Bioscience Association of Maine started this initiative in 2016 to promote science as a subject in schools and create student awareness for a potential career path in a science field.
